MOBiDYS: formats and books adapted for FSL students
Welcoming a learner of French as a second language involves a dual challenge: supporting language acquisition while also facilitating access to academic content.
At MOBiDYS, we develop digital solutions designed to remove these barriers and promote reading that is more accessible, more progressive, and more inclusive.
Features that support comprehension
Through the SONDO platform, students benefit from concrete tools to strengthen their understanding and autonomy thanks to the FROG format:
- Synchronized audio reading to connect reading and pronunciation
- Adapted layout improving readability
- Explanations of words or easy access to definitions to enrich vocabulary
- Intuitive interface enabling independent use in the classroom or at home
These features are particularly relevant for FSL students: they facilitate decoding, support both oral and written comprehension, and reduce the cognitive load associated with simultaneously learning a language and academic content.
The new Dig Tea collection: accessible first readings
Among the resources available on SONDO, the Dig Tea collection holds a special place. This new format, different from FROG, combines audio scrolling with synchronized highlighting of the sentence being read, thereby facilitating comprehension and supporting students with simple texts.
There are already 8 Dig Tea titles available on the SONDO platform. These early reading books are designed to support beginner readers in their first steps toward autonomy.
Why Dig Tea titles are particularly suited to FSL students
The books in the Dig Tea collection combine:
- Short and structured texts
- Audio support allowing each word to be heard
- A progressive decoding approach
- Synchronized highlighting
Here, audio becomes a real pedagogical tool: it allows students to identify sounds, understand correct pronunciation, and strengthen the link between written and spoken language.
For an FSL student, this means:
- Better vocabulary retention
- Improved overall comprehension
- Increased confidence in reading French
Inclusive reading serving linguistic diversity
By integrating tools originally designed for dyslexic students but fully relevant for FSL learners, MOBiDYS adopts a truly inclusive approach.
To further enrich our content, discover soon our Giglets collection, featuring short and accessible non-fiction texts designed to encourage reading based on each student’s interests. Because offering content adapted to different age levels and interests, while also adjusting to language proficiency, is our mission.
Adapted reading does not respond to a single need: it addresses the diversity of learner profiles and helps make school more accessible to everyone.
